Travel information Marshall Islands : Marshall Islands (officially the Republic of the Marshall Islands) is a group of islands in the Pacific. The Marshall Islands consists of 30 atolls and 1,100 islands. Kwajalein Atoll is the largest atoll in the world. The capital of the Marshall Islands is Majuro. The country has been independent since 1986. The U.S. guarantees the security of the archipelago. The neighboring countries are: Nauru, Kiribati, Wake and Micronesia.De archipelago has been named after British Captain John Marshall, who in 1788 made landfall. The islands were discovered in 1529, however, by the Spaniards. The official language is English and the official currency is the U.S. dollar in the Marshall Islands. The Marshall Islands is highly recommended for diving and snorkeling.
