 Travel information on Australia

Australia is a large island that together with the island of Tasmania (named after the Dutchman Abel Tasman) is the country Australia. The largest island consists for 75% of desert, where unique animal life can be found, such as the famous kangaroo's and walibi's. Did you know that in 'the red centre' as the center of Australia also is called, you also can find camels? Australia has besides deserts also rainforests and a well know natural beaty is the great barrier reef, a reef that especialy in the Northern part near Cairns is close to the shore. This is also the area where the late Steve Irwin was stung by a stingray, and unfortunately he did not survive this attack. The zoo of his family is still worth visiting. It is located near the village Beerwa, close to Brisbane on the gold coast. From Perth, it is nice to visit Rottnest island, and a trip through the wine areas. On the western side of Australia, further north the town of Monkeymia is nice to visit. Here wild dolphins will come to shore every day to be fed. From the town of Exmouth, it is possible to make a boat trip and swim with the Whale Shark. The already mentioned red centre is really worth a visit: here are the Olga's and of course the Uluru (Ayers rock). If you have a car or other transport it is advisable to visit King's very canyon. In the summer the temperature gets over forty degrees, so bring a lot of water.
